Free Technique Sample #6

Iliacus: Sidelying

Myofascial Release Technique

Purpose: Releasing the general attachments to this site begins an overall release of the pelvic structures.

Positioning:

Your client is lying on their side.

Technique:

Find the ASIS. With your fingertips, gently but firmly and in a scooping motion, try to engage the inner brim of the ilium. This area can be very tender or ticklish. Work down and into the basin as far as the tissue is available. Proceed with awareness and respect of the client.

If the area is too tender or ticklish, just apply fingertip pressure to the ASIS. In other words, apply input into bony landmarks to treat deep/superficial planes.
